Dr Karen Freund

Dr. Karen Freund is the Sara Murray Jordan Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine, and Vice Chair of Medicine for Faculty Development and Quality Improvement at Tufts Medical Center.

Her research career has focused on health services research and health disparities research. She is nationally recognized for developing models of patient navigation and care coordination in cancer care among vulnerable populations. Dr. Freund has served as the principal investigator of one of the nine funded sites of the National Cancer Institute’s Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities Patient Navigation Research Program.

Because of her work in implementing and evaluation patient navigation programs, she was awarded the Harry and Elsa Jiler Clinical Research Professorship by the American Cancer Society.
